The modular design of the DCAT models makes it possible to find the right accessory for even the most demanding measuring situation. With various test bodies the surface and interfacial tension and the density of liquids and solids can be measured as well as penetration and sedimentation experiments are possible. With a suitable sample holder, dynamic contact angles can be measured on plates and films, powders and fiber bundles and even on single fibers.
With liquid and electrical temperature control units the force tensiometers of the DCAT series can perform their measurements at up to 300 °C and liquids are handled with a dosing unit LDU 25 and different sample vessels. Special accessories widen the application fields of the DCAT models, provide an intuitive device control with the TP 50 control panel and allow for a manual calibration of the high precision weighing systems.

Based on Archimedes' principle the density of liquids and solids can be determined with a DCAT and special sample bodies and holders.
The density determination set DIS 11 consists of a silicon cylinder with well defined density and volume as well as a special holder made of platinum-iridium. In order to determine the liquid density the cylinder is being immersed in the liquid using the special holder. For an automated determination the software module DCATS 34 is required.
The density determination sets DSS 11 and DSS 12 consist of special holders for solids. A sample of the solid is placed into the holder and immersed into a test liquid of known density. For an automated determination the software module DCATS 36 is required.

The single fiber holder FH 12 is suited for single fibers with a minimum diameter of 10 μm. The single fiber holder FH 13 is suited for single fibers with a minimum diameter of 3 μm. The adhesive surface of the single fiber holders can be restored with the liquid glue Glue FH 12/13.

Using force measurements with a DCAT 25 and a special RG 2 Du Noüy ring for adhesion measurements, the force of adhesion between a solid surface and a liquid drop can be measured. For the measurement the drop is attached to the ring and pressed onto the solid surface. Afterwards the drop is being pulled off again. With the software module DCATS 37 a force distance diagram is being recorded and analyzed during the procedure. With an additional video system upgrade the contact angle can be determined optically during force of adhesion measurements.

With the temperature control units for the DCAT models, tensiometric measurements can be done at controlled temperatures. Hence the temperature dependency of surface and interfacial properties can be analyzed as well as the surface tension of molten solids like hot melt adhesive can be determined.
With a liquid temperature control unit the sample vessel can be tempered from -10 … 130 °C using a refrigerated and heating liquid circulator. A Pt100 temperature sensor for the connection to the DCAT Pt100 connection ports is integrated in each liquid temperature control unit.
With the non-magnetic liquid temperature control unit TV 70NM liquids that are sensitive to magnetic field can be analyzed. Hence, even ferrofluids or magnetorheological fluids can be investigated undisturbed. The temperature control unit is made of gold plated brass and utilized a removable micro electronic stirrer. The standard integrated magnetic stirrer of the DCAT drive train is being omitted.

With the electrical temperature control unit TEC 250/DCAT a DCAT 25 can perform measurements at temperatures of up to 300 °C. Hence, resins, hot melt adhesives, solder and other molten solids can be analyzed. The chamber is heated electrically and can be flooded with protective atmosphere. The temperature control is done by the TC 250/DCAT Pro PID controller and the temperature can be set directly on the controller or via the DCATSoftware.

All tensiometric methods rely on interactions with liquids. Hence, the proper handling and dosing of them is an essential part of the measurements with a force tensiometer of the DCAT series.
A force tensiometer of the DCAT series, upgraded with a liquid dosing unit LDU 25, is able to measure a sequence of surfactant concentrations in an automated manner. Hence, with the DCATS 33 software module the critical micelle concentration (CMC) can be determined in a series of experiments during which no manual user intervention is required.
The liquid dosing unit LDU 25 can be equipped with up to four DataPhysics Instruments syringe modules (ESr-LDU) performing independent dosing operations. This allows to dose different solutions individually. There are two options available for dosing: The first allows for a (direct) dosing of the syringe content (SH-LDU) while the second one connects to a liquid reservoir via an additional valve (RRS 25) in order to refill the syringe.
The PTFE dosing tube DT 600/16 (valve to reservoir) connects the liquid reservoir to the valve of the RRS 25. The PTFE dosing tube DT 600/16 (valve/syringe to DCAT) connects the valve of the RRS 25 or the syringe of a SH-LDU to the DCAT.
For convenience two pre-configured packages are available:

With the sample vessels GS xx liquids can be placed on the sample stage of a DCAT or in a liquid temperature control unit. The sample vessels are made of borosilicate glass and are available with diameters of 100 mm, 70 mm, or 50 mm. With fitting cover plates CP xx made of POM, the liquid can be additionally covered during measurements.
Measurements under protective atmosphere can be made with the sample vessel GTR 70. The sample vessel is made of borosilicate glass and can be covered with two special stainless steel plates. The calibration and adjustment of the weighing system is done fully automatically with the reference weights that are integrated in every DCAT. Additional reference weights with optional DAkkS certificate can be used for a manual verification on a regular basis. Furthermore a set of reference weights allows for a semi-automatic calibration and adjustment of the weighing system (each reference weight has to be placed into the DCAT manually). A set of reference weights consists of the following components:
