SVT – Accessories

Due to the modular design philosophy the SVT models can be combined with different temperature controlled measuring cells and various capillaries.

Temperature controlled measuring cells

Peltier element based temperature controlled measuring cell MC-TPC 25 with removable observation windows and TCU temperature controller

The SVT 25 can be equipped with different temperature controlled measuring cells. Inside of the measuring cell a gas (preferably helium) is used as a heat conductor between the heat source and the capillary. Liquid circulation based, Peltier element based and electrical heating based temperature control systems are available. Every measuring cell is easily mountable and includes the water-coolable high-dynamic measuring drive as well as the quick-clamp device for holding the capillary. Additionally the observation windows made of special optical glass can be easily removed by opening just two knurled screws and are easy to clean.

MC-TFC 25

  • temperature range of -10 … 130 °C

MC-TPC 25

  • temperature range of -30 … 180 °C
  • based on Peltier element
  • two Pt100 temperature sensors
  • temperature controlled with a TCU PID controller, controllable by TP 50 control panel and software
  • requires liquid counter cooling

MC-TEC 25

  • temperature range of RT … 140 °C
  • based on electrical heating
  • two Pt100 temperature sensors
  • temperature controlled with a TCU PID controller, controllable by TP 50 control panel and software
  • requires liquid counter cooling

Capillaries and filling

Samples can be easily placed inside the SVT, within seconds, due to fast-exchange capillaries with perfect fitting accuracy. Hence the highest throughput rates can be assured. In order to avoid extensive cleaning procedures disposable glass tubes with corresponding holders are also available.

FEC 622/400-HT

The fast exchangeable capillary FEC 622/400-HT is the standard capillary for use with the spinning drop tensiometers of the SVT series:

  • temperature range: -30 … 180 °C
  • outer diameter: 6.22 mm
  • inner diameter: 4.0 mm
  • total length of capillary: 110 mm
  • working length (optically): 50 mm

The disposable fast exchangeable capillary FEC-D consists of a special holder and disposable glass tubes.

  • temperature range: -30 … 180 °C
  • outer diameter: 8.0 mm
  • inner diameter: 5.0 mm
  • total length of capillary: 110 mm
  • working length (optically): 60 mm

FEC-D/B

The disposable fast exchangeable capillary FEC-D/B consists of a special holder and disposable glass tubes. Due to its special capillary design and a resulting higher pressure tolerance the FEC-D/B can be used with water-based solutions at up to 130 °C.

  • temperature range: -30 … 180 °C (water-based solutions up to 130 °C)

FEC-D/B

Syringes and needles

With special syringes and needles the capillaries for the SVT can easily be filled with the outer and inner phases.

Referencing and validation

To ensure that the SVT always produces reliable results, accessories for referencing and validating the measuring system are available.

DRS

The diameter reference set DRS consists of four reference standards made of polypropylene. The standard is placed into a liquid filled capillary. The set comprises the following diameters:

  • 0.8 mm
  • 1.2 mm
  • 1.6 mm
  • 2.0 mm

Diameter Reference Set

VS-SVT

The validation standard VS-SVT is a specially made metal rod that is placed into the SVT measuring chamber instead of a capillary. Due to its precisely manufactured diameter the measuring system can be validated by measuring the diameter of the standard.
